Audio Production

From podcasts, to oral history projects, to experimental audio stories, I’m experienced in all steps in the production process. I’ve helped bring podcasts to life- starting from pre-production- and have also independently produced pieces for various media outlets. Through working collaboratively with production staff and bringing my own ideas to workshop, I successfully turn ideas into high-quality, nuanced audio stories with solid throughlines. I’m experienced with the following programs, among others: ProTools, Riverside.fm, Megaphone.fm, Frame.io, Canva, Trint, Descript, Microsoft Office, Google Suite.

Storytelling Consulting

Have an idea for a community audio project but not sure where to start? Are you a member of an organization that’s been looking to record community histories? Have a story you’re working on but not sure how to record it? Preparing for an interview but not sure what questions to ask? I’d love to help you develop your ideas! I provide hands-on audio training to help you be prepared to make your project. From audio editing tips, to getting you up to speed on audio equipment, to developing your story ideas— my consulting is in service of your vision. Storytelling consulting is available on a sliding scale basis. If you or your organization do not have funds for my services but are interested in collaborating, I am happy to consult for free. I want audio storytelling to be accessible for everyone.

Interviewing + Recording

I’ve recorded over 400+ interviews ranging from oral history to podcasting. Having been an interview facilitator fortunate enough to hear stories from hundreds of folx around the country, I’ve developed my own Before + Aftercare Approach to Interviewing. Drawing from my experiences as an interviewer, my interviewing ethos is honoring the storytellers who choose to share their stories with me. I’m highly experienced in studio recording, field recording, remote recording, and with microphones, recording interfaces, and digital cameras. My current kit includes: Sound Devices Mix Pre 6 ii, Shure SM7B, and a Zoom handheld.

Audio Editing

Whether it’s creating 2-3 minute non-narrated audio narratives from oral history recordings, audio montages for public radio stations, trailers for podcasts, or scripted/unscripted full podcast episodes — I am a competent editor who absolutely loves cutting tape. Along with being an editor myself, I am a supervising editor, a story editor, and have managed editors to ensure all steps of the editing and story development process are seamless. Preferred DAW: ProTools.

Podcast Hosting

If you need a podcast host who can navigate dynamic, complex, and sometimes difficult conversations, VO work, or are looking for a reader and my voice matches your need— I’d be happy to throw my hat in the ring. I’m currently a podcast co-host and also a volunteer news anchor for an LGBTQIA+ radio program, continuing to hone my on-air voice skills.

Bilingual Translation

I am bilingual (Spanish and English) since birth and have provided translation services in personal, academic, and professional settings since before I can remember. If you need a bilingual producer, editor, interviewer, or if you need translation or transcription assistance, I’m here to help.

Podcast Scripting

Looking for a scriptwriter who understands scripted and unscripted content? I combine detailed research that informs the content of the script with cultural commentary, moments of levity, and natural/conversational dialogue to make any script resonate and flow. To me, writing and listening are inseparable- meaning I locate moments to pause and provide room to breathe within a script. If you’re looking to develop the voice of your show and need someone to integrate the aforementioned techniques, I’m here to help.

Community Outreach

As a justice-based producer, essential to me is ensuring that the stories I produce- or help folx produce- are made entirely for and by the folx from the community where the stories have come. I am highly skilled at forming community partnerships with local organizations- both on the ground and remotely- to make participating in audio recordings accessible. I help liaise between all interested parties: organizations, recording participants, and the audio project/production staff.

Research + Fact-Checking

Working on a podcast or project but don’t have time to do all the research? Look no further! I love helping podcasts do preliminary research for their upcoming shows— diving deep into the characters, the places, the sounds, the events, the community, and what makes the stories unique.
